Game 51: Williams, Mattingly pace Flash past Thunder 11-1

Fassero pitches Monkey past Glovers

Matt Williams and Don Mattingly are quite the combo.

Williams was 2 for 4 with a home run and four RBI, while Mattingly was 3 for 5 with a home run and three RBI to lead the Fort Lauderdale Flash over the Rolling Thunder 11-1.

Nomar Garciaparra added three hits and two RBI, while Ryne Sandberg also had two RBI. Brad Radke got the win, going the distance with five strikeouts.

Greg Swindell couldn’t make it out of the first inning, giving up three runs on four hits in 1/3 of an inning, while Andy Benes came in to give up seven earned runs in 7 1/3 innings.

In the other game, Jeff Fassero pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts to lead the Chunky Monkey over the Golden Glovers 6-1.

Alan Trammell was 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBI, while Ken Caminiti added two RBI in the win.
