Game 79: McHugh leads Monkey to division title in 6-2 win

Tiant lifts Flash over Glovers

The Monkey might have to re-think this Collin McHugh guy.

McHugh pitched a complete game, allowing zero earned runs, while recording 13 strikeouts to lift the Chunky Monkey past the Rolling Thunder 6-2 and clinch the division and home-field advantage in the World Series.

Edgar Martinez was 2 for 4 with a home run and four RBI, while Joe Morgan had two hits and three runs in the win.

McHugh is now 3-1 with a 2.68 ERA and recently has been the Monkey’s best pitcher. Meanwhile Curt Schilling took the loss and is now 6-10 on the season to become the first pitcher to record double-digit losses.

In the other game, Luis Tiant pitched 8 1/3 innings, allowing zero earned runs, to lift the Fort Lauderdale Flash over the Golden Glovers 8-1.

Mike Trout and Dale Murphy each had two hits and a home run in the win.
