Game 16: Alomar’s grand slam in 9th leads Flash over Monkey 7-4

Clemens (11 Ks) downs Thunder

Robert Alomar hit a grand slam in the bottom of the 9th off of Sam Dyson to lift the Fort Lauderdale Flash over the Chunky Monkey 7-4.

Carlos Marmol got the win in relief, while Andre Dawson was 2 for 4 with a RBI in the win. Tony Phillips had three hits in the loss for the Monkey.

In the other game, Roger Clemens pitched 8 1/3 innings of shutout ball with 11 strikeouts to lead the Golden Glovers past the Rolling Thunder 6-0.

Frank Thomas was 2 for 5 with a home run and three RBI, while Honus Wagner added four hits in the victory. Derek Jeter had three hits in the loss, while Kevin Rogers gave up six earned runs in 6 1/3 innings.
