Game 34: Helton’s single in 9th lifts Monkey past Thunder

Bullpen helps Flash beat Glovers

Todd Helton singled home Johnny Bench in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Chunky Monkey past the Rolling Thunder 4-3.

Bench also added a home run and two RBI, while Robert Alomar had three hits.

Eric Young had four hits in the loss, while Giancarlo Stanton had two RBI.

In the other game, Hanley Ramirez had two hits and two RBI to lead the Fort Lauderdale Flash over the Golden Glovers 4-3.

Once again, the Flash’s bullpen was the difference as Armando Benitez picked up the win in 2 2/3 innings of hitles ball and Carlos Marmol got the save.

Larry Walker had a home run in the loss for the Glovers.
